Sustainability

Sonu's ambition is to capture as many retailers as possible around to globe and assist them in becoming climate positive.

The World Health Organisation has projected that the population of sub-Saharan Africa will quadruple in the next 50 years, that is increase from 1 billion to 4 billion people, taking the global population from 8 billion to 11 billion by the turn of the Century.

In order to ensure the survival of modern civilisation for our future generation, the huge emerging consumer market in Africa, and the meeting their needs, must be achieved within the goals of the Paris Climate Accord of 2015 to ensure that modern civilisation remains sustainable by limiting global temperature rises to less than 1.5 ˚ Celsius, while minimising the destruction water resource and natural habitats.

Combined with this, the quality of life of the people living in sub-Saharan Africa needs to improve in order to minimise human suffering and the illegal migration of millions of people to wealthier countries, desperate to escape the ravages of poverty, crime, violence, hunger and the destruction of their habitats.
Prior to establishing Sonu, the management team have over the past 40 years, focused on building national retail chains and manufacturing facilities focused on homeware and furniture markets and the creation of a fully integrated, end-to-end retail, inventory, design and manufacturing platform to support these operations.

In response to the continued economic challenges facing the South Africa economy, the mass disruption to global supply chains, the Sonu management team combined and focused these resources on creating an internationally focused, industry platform and manufacturing facilities to meet the needs of local sub-Saharan, European and North American retailers.

Sonu can manage complex product development cycles and supply chains for both African and global retailers with a response model in which continued innovation, creativity and a focus on execution drives the business of all our partners.
Our design, systems, engineering, and manufacturing teams constantly experiment with new ways of working to deliver reliable, responsive and value creation solutions to our customers. Despite our diverse backgrounds we share a sole commitment to uplifting and empowering our communities while providing delight to our customers.
