"Develop & Source Sustainable, Environmentally Friendly Materials"

Develop Sustainable Materials

At Sonu, we acknowledge that many of the materials used in the modern fashion, furniture and construction industries have devastating negative impact on the environment and natural habitat for species diversity, which in turn impacts our crops, weather and living environments.
The negative environmental impact of the furniture industry runs all the way from the harvesting of materials from natural environments, through the manufacturing process and continue on through the active use and eventual disposal of products after they have served their purpose, polluting landfills and the environment for decades after they were made.

In addition, many manufacturers operating in these industries think nothing of negative health impacts on their employees of using toxic chemicals, such as benzine, tolulene and others in the production processes, and the release of these chemicals in their customers homes.

We are proud to say that from our first day we have banned the use of all toxic chemicals in our manufacturing process. We recognise however that many materials required to make furniture, like the wood, steel, foam and fabric have not yet evolved to the point where these can be considered environmentally friendly, carbon negative or safe for human health.
At Sonu, we work diligently and tirelessly to advance environmentally conscious practices throughout the development of the entire furniture supply chain. We apply the latest research from the academic and scientific community to reduce the environmental impact of, and eliminate toxic chemicals, from the manufacture of all the input components, board, metal, foams and fabric we use.

We focus on helping our suppliers and our partner factories become highly efficient, focused production facilities that can compete internationally, but in ways that meet international environment standards and costs, while operating at a quarter of time compared to other manufacturing companies operating in the industry.
